Conexus Studio | Hitachi Asia’s headquarters in Singapore is a physical manifestation of the organisation’s emblem — and values — built on the principles of flexibility, transparency and, above all, a belief that great work begins with genuine human connection.

Conexus Studio | The best workplace interiors do not decorate a brand — they think with it. At Hitachi Asia’s new Singapore headquarters, Conexus Studio has embraced this philosophy, drawing the formal logic of the spatial design from the company’s emblematic crest. Its graceful curves and twists serve as the generative geometry for the reception layout, establishing from the outset that this is a space where corporate identity and architectural thinking are not in conflict but in conversation.

Identity As Architecture

From the moment you step into Hitachi Asia’s new headquarters, the design makes a bold statement: this is a space where brand identity and architecture are seamlessly intertwined. The reception area is a masterpiece of curves — graceful arcs and flowing lines ripple across the floor, walls, and ceiling, creating a dynamic, almost futuristic environment. Complemented by carefully orchestrated lighting, the space comes alive with a sense of motion and energy, echoing the forward-thinking ethos of the Hitachi brand.

By avoiding rigid boundaries, the new office design successfully dissolves the divisions of the past, fostering collaboration.

The circular layout, inspired by the company’s emblem, sets the tone for the journey ahead. Visitors are guided through a gallery of digital screens that showcase Hitachi’s initiatives and achievements — a living, breathing portrait of innovation in action. The lighting design enhances this experience, casting soft glows and dramatic highlights that emphasise the fluidity of the space, while stretch membranes and intricate curved installations add layers of texture and intrigue.

Adjacent to this striking reception lies a flexible hospitality and social zone, designed to feel like the heart of a community. Adaptable training rooms and gathering spaces create a “village square” atmosphere, where collaboration and celebration coexist. At its center, a custom metal chain curtain bearing the words “We are Hitachi” commands attention. This tactile, sculptural centrepiece is more than just a design feature — it’s a declaration of unity and purpose, embodying the collective spirit of the organisation.

Semi-open booths define the transition between a focused work zone and the breakout zone, offering privacy without isolating teams from office energy.

A Blueprint for Community

Hitachi Asia’s relocation brought previously siloed departments under a single roof, and the design meets that opportunity with intention. The floor plan is organised into four distinct neighbourhoods within an open-plan layout, each calibrated to support a variety of work modes — focused concentration, collaborative exchange, formal discussion and social connection — without hard boundaries that would reimpose the very divisions the move sought to dissolve.

A flexible breakout zone creates a “village square” atmosphere, where collaboration and social gatherings comfortably coexist.

At the social heart of the plan sits the pantry, diverse in its seating and deliberately open in its atmosphere, earning its status as the office’s gravitational centre through daily use and easy conviviality. Around it, a range of meeting pods, casual seating and formal rooms alike cater to every scale of encounter, fostering spontaneous interaction, creative exchange, and cross-disciplinary synergy. These are all underpinned by technology infrastructure built for hybrid participation, ensuring that remote and in-person colleagues participate on equal terms.

Unity and connectivity are only part of the story. In an era when wellbeing and sustainability are no longer optional, Hitachi Asia’s office design places employee experience at the forefront. Eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and a considered biophilic approach infuse the workplace with a calming,nature-linked ambience. Fluid pathways guide movement through the space with a natural ease that makes the 22,475 sq ft feel navigable rather than overwhelming. Sunlit workstations, moss micro-landscapes, and organic open-plan spaces don’t just look pleasing — they create an atmosphere designed to sustain creativity over the long hours of a working day.

The central breakout area is designed for spontaneous conversations, informal gatherings, and quick recharges throughout the workday.

It is a thoughtful backdrop that quietly fosters a sense of belonging, building community through considered, people-centered choices. Rather than making bold statements, Hitachi Asia’s new office shows how careful design can support the everyday needs of a team while gently encouraging culture, connection, and community.

The interior design team has brought the One Hitachi spirit to life through a thoughtfully designed workplace that reflects Hitachi’s Values of pioneering spirit, sincerity, and harmony — creating an inclusive, collaborative, and vibrant environment that supports employee wellbeing, equity, and a high‑quality work experience.
